Physical Education and Sports

St Luke’s provides a dynamic physical education program to all students on a weekly basis. The program is designed to develop the physical skills and competencies necessary for a healthy lifestyle. The Prep  -Year 2 program focuses on perceptional motor skills and fundamental movement patterns. The Year 3-6 students build on these skills to develop competencies in, about and through movement.

In addition to PE lessons, students participate in dance/gymnastic lessons (term 3) and the Life Education program. Students in Prep-Year 2 also participate in an intensive swimming program in Term 4 focused on water safety.

Our Year 5 & 6 students participate in four Interschool Sports Carnival Days in a variety of teams sports held during term 2, 3 and 4. Students also have the opportunity to participate at a representative level in swimming, cross country and athletics at the Bayside Catholic Primary Schools and the Bayside District carnivals. Students also have the opportunity to progress to district, regional, state and national representation in most sports through the Bayside District selection process.
